Treatments for men

We are finding increasing numbers of men who are not embarrassed about wanting to look their best. Here are a few of the procedures we find most popular.

Laser Treatments
Laser treatments are very popular with men as they are highly effective, very quick and leave no obvious trace. As well as the normal aesthetic benefits, laser therapy  is also very effective in a range of common male issues such as:

  • Fungal nail
  • Port nose
  • Excessive back and chest hair
  • Eyebrow correction
  • Rosacea

Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are increasingly used by men to minimise signs of ageing or correct imperfections . Male skin tends to be tougher and the muscles stronger so lines appear more prominent in certain areas. The more common uses for ageing in the male face are:

  • Reducing smile and nasolabial lines (running vertically from the bottom of the nose the corners of the mouth Improving the appearance of a sagging or downturned mouth by reducing ‘marionette lines’ (running vertically below the corners of the mouth).
  • Lessening tear troughs (the hollows beneath the eyes).
Minimising worry lines (running horizontally across the forehead).
  • Dermal fillers can also be used to help exaggerate or create more masculine features through lip and cheekbone enhancement in addition to changing the shape of the jaw and chin to improve facial contours.

Male Hair loss
Male hair thinning and loss is a very personal and sensitive issue for many men. Male pattern baldness (Androgenic Alopecia) is mainly, but not always, responsible for hair loss or thinning hair in males. There are prescription medicine options to counteract the hair loss; Both finasteride (propecia) and minoxidil (rogaine type scalp solution), the only other FDA-approved hair loss product are both available from us as private prescriptions for our patients

Excessive sweating
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition where there is excessive sweating caused by overactive sweat glands. People suffering with hyperhidrosis may sweat even when it is cool or when they are at rest. It usually affects the hands, feet and underarms (axilla) and upper lip.
This can cause very real physical and emotional stress.

Where skin applications have failed, we can offer injections of botulinum toxin, which is FDA approved for this indication of excessive underarm sweating.

Tiny doses injected very superficially under the skin, temporarily (6-8months) block the nerves that stimulate sweating.
